Hotel Bohinj

Beautiful hotel very close to the lake. The incredibly vast breakfast spread was a highlight of the stay. There are nice areas to sit, including the lobby and the outdoor fire pit. We stayed in a comfort double, which was very spacious and included a sitting area and small workout area with equipment. The room also had a balcony, but the view was the parking lot and there was loud construction, so we didn't end up sitting out there. Speaking of the construction, there seems to be a new, related hotel going up directly next door. The spa was originally a draw for staying here, but we ended up not using it. We went down to relax in the whirlpool and found it surprisingly lukewarm. The staff said it is about 32 C and yes that temperature is on purpose and not a malfunction. The spa also has a sauna and steam room - which I am not a fan of, but if you are, then the spa should be just fine for you. In summary, the stay was overall positive and I would actually stay here again, but would inquire about construction first and would consider the spa irrelevant for my needs.

This is a beautiful hotel. I imagine in winter it would be a delight. In summer it is a heat trap. The eco friendly evaporative cooling was not up to the job. The in room hotel info even suggests that the wooden rooms retain heat so keep your curtains closed and open the windows at night to cool the room. Not ideal to let the mosquitos in. And as we booked a corner suite with a view it was wasted as we had the curtains closed the whole time in an attempt to cool the room down. So I warn you - if you love putting the air con on 18 and having a very cool room in summer this hotel is not for you. If you don’t mind open windows and a warmer room in summer go ahead and stay here. Aside from the heat ( which I acknowledge is partly my preference/issue) the hotel was great. Food in the restaurant was delicious. It was in a great location right next to the lake which was pleasantly refreshing to swim in. The area itself was beautiful and worth of at least a three night stay. The outside bar garden was a lovely place to spend the twilight hours, and on one night we were lucky to see the Slovenian pop band Booom! playing an acoustic set at the garden area. Thanks to our English waiter kept us supplied with food and drinks . The wellness area was relaxing and the massage we booked was amazing! So in summary a really excellent quality hotel in autumn, winter and spring… and possibly summer too depending on your air con preferences.

Very nice setting, beautiful hotel and perfect service. The food is great, well seasoned and finished, great tastes of local food. The breakfast is a mixture of everything you didn’t know you wanted - fresh friut, nuts, local cheeses and meats. The coffee is not the best, but all the rest makes up for it. The kitchen service is upscale and proffesional. The staff has a lot of knowledge of the food and available drinks. Try the Grappa Amaro drink after dinner, it is served on a glass movable teay with an old school huge glass pipette. Instagrammable ;) What makes my review a four is the noisy rooms (we were unlucky - a family staying with I assume small kids, thought it is acceptable to bounce a ball off the walls and floor at 7 am. Well.) The secind reason are the saunas. All of them have a slight draft, which made them not hot enough for me. And the constant elevator music playing in the sauna area is really unnecessary and annoying. The area is too cramped, only offering a very limited number of floor seating. Good massages and the private sauna, which is worth the money.
